A Grok Bot got a second EV charger install quote that was $1,310 lower

Nabil @nabilrehman8 · United States · Grok Bot, Fo

What the agent did

He asked his Grok Bot to get him a cheaper Tesla charger install. It got a second quote through Fo (@hey__fo) to compare against the quote he had got by phone. The second estimate in his screenshot is for a customer-supplied charger, so the two quotes may not cover the same work.

Result, as claimed

My quote (me calling): $2,171. Its quote (via @hey__fo): $861. Saved $1,310.

This is the result as the person described it in public. It has not been checked and is not a typical outcome.

Prompt

I need quotes for [job, for example a 50 amp EV charger install] at [address or area]. My current quote is [amount] from [company] and covers [scope]. Find [3] licensed providers near me with good recent reviews. Contact them by [email or form] with the same job description and photos [attach]. Put each reply in a table: company, price, exactly what is included, who supplies parts, timeline, warranty. Point out where the scopes differ. Do not accept or sign anything.

Tools

  • Grok Bot What Nabil used
  • Fo The service Nabil's bot got the second quote through (@hey__fo on X)
  • Google Sheets Free comparison table

Steps

  1. Write one clear job description with photos.
  2. Run the prompt and let the agent contact providers.
  3. Compare scopes line by line, not only the total price.
  4. Call your pick yourself to confirm before you sign.

Watch out: A lower quote can cover less work, as in this story where the cheaper estimate assumed a customer-supplied charger, so compare what each quote includes.
